Pretending was fun when you were little but it only gets harder and more tiring with time. It’s exhausting trying to appear stronger, wiser, or more put-together than you really are. And who do we pretend with the most? God.
But God isn’t asking you to impress Him. Isaiah 57:15, God says, I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.
God is high and holy, yet closest to the humble. He’s not impressed by your performance. He’s drawn to surrendered, humble, hearts. Do you want to meet with God?
