What makes someone good at sharing the gospel? (The gospel is the good news of how God loves and saves people from their sin through the death and resurrection of Jesus.) So, what do you need to share this good news? 

For many of us, we don’t need another sermon or Bible study. You don’t need to be a preacher or have a microphone and a platform. You don’t even need to have all of the answers or eloquent words. 

You just need to be available to the God who sends ordinary people into ordinary places with extraordinary news. Wherever you go, you carry this message of hope, truth, grace, and love. Your words and your life can point other people to Jesus. 

May we strive to be what Paul calls “Christ’s ambassadors” (2 Corinthians 5:20). Are you open to having that conversation? Pray with that person? How is God leading you to point someone to Jesus today? Remember this one thought: God sends ordinary people with extraordinary news. Does loving God ever feel a little abstract? How do I know if I’m loving God well after all? Jesus knows this, and He doesn’t let love stay confusing. 

When asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus says to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind. Then He adds, “and the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:39. Your love for God and love for people are connected. 

Maybe this is why your love for God feels ambiguous. Loving God will always move you toward loving people, and loving people will help you love God. Who might God want you to notice today? Loving your neighbor might look like loving the person who interrupts you, needs patience from you, or is easy for you to overlook. Let’s pray for God’s help in loving others today. 

You don’t need to know all the answers. Let that bring you some peace. And you don’t need to win arguments, sound impressive, or string together perfect thoughts. But before you think you’re completely off the hook, Peter writes, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. (1 Peter 3:15.)

Is there something about your life that makes hope visible to others? And when someone notices, are you ready to speak with gentleness and respect? Instead of feeling the pressure to know everything, you can simply tell what Jesus has done in you. How He has come through. Why you trust Him. Because your hope in Jesus is worth sharing, and this hope is contagious.
