What do you think of when you hear the word ‘repent’? Sign holders with megaphones? Shame? Maybe repentance happens after you get caught, feel bad, and then try to prove that you’re really sorry. More often than not, repentance has a negative reputation.
So why does one verse have “God’s kindness” and “repentance” in the same sentence? Romans 2:4 says, “God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance”
God is not cruel in how he turns you back to Him. This is what repentance means: turning around. Turning from what is hurting you and to mercy. Turning from what is hardening your heart to freedom. Turning from what’s pulling you away from God to a close life with Him.
God’s kindness invites you to turn towards Him today.
