Who gave guilt the microphone? Sometimes the loudest voice in your head is the one reminding you of what you said or did. Or what you should have said or done. Maybe what you wish you could undo.
If you let guilt have the microphone for too long, guilt starts sounding like the truest thing about you.
But 1 John 2:1 says, “If anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father– Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. An advocate is someone who speaks on your behalf. Another translation says that Jesus “pleads our case before the Father.” (NLT)
When you belong to Jesus, guilty accusations do not get the loudest or final word over your life. Jesus does. Jesus isn’t pretending that your sin doesn’t matter, but He stands for you because He’s dealt with your sin fully through His righteousness, sacrifice, and grace.
Here’s your one thought: Jesus will always be louder than guilty accusations. Let’s pray to Jesus, our advocate.
