Paul asks this question in 1 Corinthians 6:19: “Do you not know that your bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit?” God seems to think that your body is something to be cared for. It’s not an inconvenience attached to your spiritual life.
How do you usually think about your body? Do you think about it too much or not enough? Maybe you’re thankful for it. Maybe you’re critical. Maybe you mostly ignore it until something hurts and then that’s all you can think about.
Take your hand and find your pulse if you can. Your body has carried you through every day you’ve ever lived. And taking care of your body can be an act of worship. Sleeping, moving, eating well, exercising healthy boundaries, refusing to speak negatively about yourself.
When you have God’s view of your body, you see it as a gift to steward and not an enemy to fight.
