Life with Jesus isn’t always easy. Especially when He asks us to “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” (Matthew 5:44). The easier option would be to love those who are easy to love and pray for those who bless you. But why did Jesus say what he did?
Jesus isn’t pretending that hurts don’t happen. He also doesn’t want you to ignore wisdom, boundaries, or truth. But Jesus knows that resentment is not a good thing for your heart. Resentment hardens your heart.
Prayer is one way God softens your heart. Sometimes prayer is the first step towards love. Start by bringing that difficult person in your mind right now to God, and ask Him to do what you cannot do on your own.
